Asia Beauty
Asia Beauty has been nominated for a Grammy in the 58 Annual Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on Feb 15 2016. In the same way a novel can transport the reader into the world of the narrative Asia Beauty sweeps the listener into a world of imagination. This instrumental album travels from the sultry cafes of Vietnam to ancient palaces in The House Of The Five Beauties to the bamboo forests of Taiwan in Blue Bamboo to the spectacular terraces in China in Two Mountains. Dramatic melodies are brought to life by the fascinating sounds of the traditional Chinese instruments: dizi, erhu, pipa, yangqin, guzheng and the 5000 year old guqin. Other rare Chinese woodwinds showcased on this album include the bawu (folk clarinet) xun (ceramic vessel flute) and the dadi (bass bamboo flute) The compositions are the culmination of experience of 13 years of travelling and performing in Asia and working with Chinese musicians. All the photography in the 36 page hardcover digi-book is original and taken during Ron’s travels. Brilliant performances by Laila Biali, George Koller, Ben Riley, Aidan Mason and Donald Quan complement the talented cast of Canadian Chinese traditional instrumentalists, Wendy Zhao, Zhang Di, Cynthia Qin, Feihong Nan and Xiaoqiu Lin. “What makes his work truly unique is Ron's ability to reach deep within his spirit to project pure charisma and connect with his audiences. Listeners forget their problems and feel uplifted, rejuvenated and inspired.” - Beijing Weekend "Ron Korb is the most marvelous musician I have ever worked with. With his magical flute he captures the essence of East and West and never fails to move his audience." - Dadawa, Singer, BBC World Music Award nominee and MTV Award winner
