Michael Simon Live at No Black Tie Kuala Lumpur, Destiny's Will is a live recording project by NBT Records, featuring Rotterdam based trumpeter/ arranger/ composer/ performer/ educator Michael Simon and jazz singer from Shanghai, Jasmine Chen. Michael Simon's desire to bridge and connect with jazz artists from South East Asia captures a vision that is shared by NBT Records, in creating musical collaborations between jazz artists from different cultural backgrounds, weaving a musical fabric that encapsulates the richness and diversity of each culture. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese and Malay folk songs, and giving them a new lease of life with his original arrangements, Destiny's Will aims to reach out to a wider audience of music lovers. Jasmine Chen's involvement in Destiny's Will not only lends authenticity to the Chinese songs featured in the album, her ability to fuse traditional folk tunes with contemporary jazz stylings using her unique voice is sure to captivate audiences everywhere she performs.
