Aesthesis
Produced by Forrester Savell (Helmet / Karnivool) and Matthew Bartlem (Royal Blood / Jarryd James), and mixed by Grammy Award winning Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, U2), Aesthesis bears the familiar grandiosity of Dead Letter Circus. Across 10 incredibly written songs, the band create a vast sonic universe filled with their trademark sound of intricate-yet-danceable rhythms, ocean-sized guitars, and the lofty voice of Kim Benzie. There have been updates and changes to certain aspects of this sound – the inevitable artifacts of a career-long evolution – but, much to the delight of their die hard fans, Dead Letter Circus remain ever faithful to their roots on Aesthesis. ‘Aesthesis’ was tracked, produced and engineered by a dream team of Matt Bartlem, Zach Hylton (The Getaway Plan, Jarryd James) and Forrester Savell (Karnivool, The Occupants) and mixed by US studio legend Chris Lord-Alge. Hearing the songs for the first time through a chance meeting with Matt Bartlem during the tracking process, Lord-Alge jumped at the chance to use his skills on the record having previously worked some of the world’s biggest rock records including Muse, Deftones, Green Day, Slipknot, AFI, Paramore, My Chemical Romance and many more. “The journey of Aesthesis for the band was a process of remembering what it truly felt like to create music from the heart without barriers imposed by the mind,” said Benzie. “Writing this album made us realise how deeply we actually love creating music and more importantly making music with each other.”
