Arcan
Recorded and produced by Republic Production Tîrgu-Mureş, “Arcan” brings a new and perhaps unexpected musical approach. After more than 21 years on stage, in which he dedicated himself to a unique, unmistakable style, a blend of pop-rock-blues, progressive folk and a lot of poetry, Adrian Berinde has the artistic courage to reinvent and express himself in another sound vision, in a novel musical conception. “Arcan” is the collaboration fruit of an impressive team of Transylvanian musicians, who have given their energy, creativity, and resources to bring this project to life. The musical construction of the album “Arcan” brings a strong air of novelty in the Romanian music, while the complex pieces, reminding of the polyphonic structure of the symphonies, alternate with those of a disturbing simplicity. The rebellious electric guitar solos coexist with the melancholic plaint of the cello, with the intensity of the choirs, the delicacy of the whistle and the freshness of the accordion, all of them in a sophisticated and absolutely surprising sound. Each piece is a world, a different world, a distinct space-time identity, different and yet interconnected with all the others, reminding of the multicolored kaleidoscope of the lives linked by invisible threads in the innovative film “Cloud Atlas”. From this perspective, the song that gives the title of the album, “Arcan”, can be regarded as an authentic manifest-statement, a statement that expresses the author’s fundamental conception of life and on the contemporary society’s captivity. In the same vibration also fits “Dumnezeu râde singur”, the piece that enjoys a revolutionary video, meant to draw attention on the dehumanization and degradation of the human being.
