Asterism
Finished in early 2016, all the tracks on this album were composed on the Tim Donahue signature model electric harp guitar, which I've been playing for just a few years; there's also a heavy Chapman Stick presence on the album, that's an instrument I've been playing a lot longer. At the time of writing this text, as far as I know, this may be the only album to date which features this particular combination of instruments - fretted and fretless electric harp guitars, 10-string Chapman Stick and 8-string guitar-tuned Alto Stick. I wanted to do something that incorporated some of the contrasting textures of the different sounds, totally different playing techniques and characteristics of these instruments. The results are quite a mixture in terms of styles of music, the album doesn't fit into any one 'genre' exactly - hard to categorize, a bit like life itself, in that sense, perhaps. The music, the title, and and the track titles, mean whatever you want them to mean; to me, that's what music's for, so whatever you might imagine or visualize from any part of it is fine by me... :) Just over an hour of instrumental music. Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoy it.
