The Fight for Love
Biography: This explosive, and very radical Neo/soul international recording Artist/ Song-writer/ Producer first fell in love with music at a tender age. His initiation began as an active member of his church choir in his native land Barbados, where his soulful nature and obsession with harmony began. Growing up, Lewis was influenced by groups like: Boyz II men, Jodeci, Take 6, Black Street, The Isley Brothers; to name a few. Ryan also became very intrigued with Bob Marley & the Wailers. Marley’s inspirational music and lyrical compositions were an inspiration to Ryan, along with his very contagious on stage presence. Seal’s Kiss from a Rose was Ryan’s introduction to contemporary rock. “I love the full, energetic sound and passion Seal represents.” Ryan was also heavily influenced by Steve Wonder. As his passion and love for the art grew stronger, his relentless efforts were rewarded after enrolling in many musical and vocal workshops. Networking with young like minded artists, Ryan decided at age 17 to join a young 4 member accopella group called Suave. With this experience, he was further able to experiment with different vocal styles in efforts to find his own true sound. On February 02 of 1998, Ryan joined The Almond International Orchestra, and there began his professional career, it was there he became a very competent vocalist and rhythm guitar player. Shortly after joining the 30 piece outfit, the unit won the very prestigious and coveted Minister of Tourism Band of the Year Award. Later that year, the artist was fortunate to tour with the Orchestra to England, and played at Earls Court to a mass of over 45,000. During Ryan’s career, he was fortunate to have shared the stage with the reggae legend Ernie Smith, and Kevin Little performing his hit single Turn Me On Sherwayne Winchester, Fayeann Lyons, Destra Garcia, and many other world renowned acts. He was also a member of the award winning Toni Norville Project. This band was the leading Top 40 band in the entire Caribbean. The band was fortunate to share the stage with; Rhianna, Jah Rule, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Lady Saw, Spragga Benz, Beenie man, Fat Joe, Ashanti, Buju Banton and many more. Since launching his solo career he has performed along side; Richie Righteous, Da Truth, Toronto mass Choir, Juno award nominee, Patricia Shirley, Canton Spirituals, recipients of; Dove, Soul Train, Steller awards and Grammy nomination, Juno Award winner, Susan Aglukark, Three time Maja award winner, Kathy Grant Mahon….. Through continuous networking, Ryan began to associate himself with some well established engineers and producers. Chris Almond, Andrew Denny, Roger Moore, and many others who collectively worked with international artists such as: Shade, Santana, the Eagles, Eddy Grant, Rupee, Rhianna, Kevin Little, and the list goes on. He has performed on many occasions for The Canadian Cancer Society and many other charity organizations. Ryan has received lots of media, radio, and television exposure. Lewis started his own production company Islandboy World in 2005, and later released his self produced album entitled Phenomenon, later in 2006 he recorded an Album called Relentless, under his new label Islandboy World Records. But this album was unreleased because of a change in his musical and Spiritual direction. In 2006, Ryan rededicated his life to God, the Neo/ Soul artist decided to change his perspective and message, he has since recorded two Albums ‘Diary of praise’ in September of 2006 and then released The Praise Revolution in June of 2007, both of which were pilot projects and lead to the recording of his current project The Fight for love and is in the process of booking his promotional tour. Ryan has a real heart felt passion for today’s youth, his some what conflicting past has fueled him to try to make a difference in as many lives as he can through his heart felt message. “The intent of this new project is to make people and other up and coming artists aware that you can Love the Lord and still be ‘cool,’ And make good music without using derogatory terms or profanity!! And most of all, he wanted to introduce Jesus Christ to this so very desperate and lost generation.” Lewis is pumped and ready to Fight…. The fight for love!
