Broken Wings
John Redmon Talks About His CD Project Broken Wings I must admit, I am so excited about this upcoming project. It's been over 10 years since I've released my debut project, You Made the Difference. I was about 20 years old when I did that one. Since then, I've grown so much in the Lord and the Lord has revealed Himself to me in such a real and practical way that not only my life has changed, but my songs have as well. I'm expecting this project to have a universal reach. I've already seen God do some marvelous things through just the CD single release of Broken Wings. I've received requests for this product in Russia as well as distribution for it in Australia and India. I'm trying to make this project appeal to such a broad audience that it's going to be very hard to categorize this album in exactly what kind of style or genre it is and what type of "singer" I am. However, I pray that when any listener gets through listening to this project, that it will be very clear that I am not a singer at all, but a music minister. Every singer has their favorite song on the projects they do. Richard Smallwood admitted at a concert at Oakwood College that his favorite song he recorded was Total Praise. Whitney Houston admitted her favorite was The Greatest Love of All. I think the songs that stands out to me and ministers straight to my heart that will appear on this project are Where Were You? and Higher Ground. I have ministered with Higher Ground for years upon years, and now God has opened the door for me to record this wonderful song with some of my favorite gospel singers in the world, Phil and Brenda Nicholas. It is truly a dream come true. Now the song that makes me cry every time I rehearse it is Gethsemane. This song is adapted from Teri Simmons' Is There Anyone Like Jesus?. I've heard it said by many pastors that if it wasn't for Gethsemane, there'd be no Calvary. The song Gethsemane is a depiction of Jesus' agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. I tried to record the song so that you can really feel His anguish, hear His tears, see the humanity of Jesus as He battled with the very difficult decision of going to the cross or not. Despite whatever you've heard, this decision was not an easy decision for Him. It was not the will of Jesus at this point in His life to die, but it was the will of His Father. So as we should do in our everyday life, Jesus gave in to the will of His Father and gave His life as a ransom for us. No it wasn't easy, but it was a matter of life and death...ours. He thought that we were worth it. O what love! I want to be able to love like that. Broken Wings compels us to forget our mistakes and failures of the past and make a goal, and press on toward it with all of our might. 2 Good 2 B Tru is a song that would be like the heart's expression of a new believer who found out what God is all about...faithful, loving, great, merciful, saving, glorious, grace of amazing magnitude. I'd love to say more about this project, but I don't want to disclose everything now. Just be assured that this album, if it has to be classified, it will be classified as inspirational. I can go on and on. Anyway, you can hear my album clips right here on this website!! God bless you. -John Redmon
