Think of NSYNC meets the Bee Gees and that pretty well tells the story of B3's debut album, which is not a bad thing. Fans of the Bee Gees will probably enjoy this contemporary homage to the group's '70s (and a few '60s) songs ? though they're tarted up at times a bit too much with computerized rhythm instruments and synthesizer accompaniment, but all sung with a great deal of passion. The material ranges from "To Love Somebody" and "I.O.I.O." to "Nights on Broadway" and "Jive Talking," and up to "You Win Again." It's all done with a lot of enthusiasm that is bracing to hear, and overcomes some of the overemphasis on the synthesizers and percussion; even the one original on the album sounds promising, though it's hard to compete with the Gibb brothers as songwriters. Even the late Maurice Gibb apparently took in the group's act and voiced his approval and appreciation.
