开首的《The Art Of Driving》是一首简约的中版pop，回音的鼓声令歌曲有点点trip-hop的感觉。一男一女在车厢内的对话带起用驾驶来比喻性爱的歌词："I wish you'd learn to slow down,you might get there in the end.Don't think that theaccelerat or pedal is a man'sbest friend"，Sarah甜美的声线令人陶醉。《TheEnglish Motorway System》同样以交通作为题材，歌词英国的公路系统来形容感情的分离，配上凄美(有点像Twin Peaks)的配乐，效果出色。《May Queen》讲述学生偷尝禁果，却要男的用血来作出承诺："Write my name in blood across yourshirt.Prove to me that I'm the only one.Then cross your heart and hope todie.May God strike you dead if it's a lie." 《French Rock'N'Roll》讲一个为情自杀的女人竟因为听到法国的摇摆音乐而打消死念。"It was getting pretty obvious,I was never coming back.I threw open the window,and I stoid out on the ledge.When the sweetest sound I ever heard,pushed me back from the edge"。其实Black Box Recorder亦可能真的受到法国音乐的影响，不少歌曲都有Air的影子。 主题歌《The Facts Of Life》是全碟最悦耳的一曲亦是细碟作品。Sarah懒洋洋的半讲半唱，用悲观的角度来形容人生："No one gets through life without being hurt"。而《The Deverell Twins》的主角则是一双在维多利时期溺毙的孖生小孩子。 喜欢BlackBoxRecorder可能是因为他们的那份黑色幽默及对流行乐坛的讽刺。糖衣般的调子、懒洋洋的配乐、美丽性感的女歌声，唱着的竟是一些关于失落、悲观、自杀、甚至乎变态的歌词，对比就像地狱与天堂。无论商业上成功与否，最自得其乐的相信就是Luke Haines这个天使与魔鬼的混合体。 The Facts of Life is a 2000 album by Black Box Recorder, whose members include Luke Haines, Sarah Nixey and John Moore.
