Misfits 2
It differs by religion/denomination, but you don't have to run your finger too far down the Ten Commandments to see something like "You shall not make for yourself an idol." Christian hip-hop duo Social Club come with a heaping helping of swagger and enough boasting to make a politician blush, but forgive them not only because they're from the showy land of Rick Ross and Pitbull (Miami) but mostly because their pride comes from their belief in the Lord. Bangers like "Mxsfit Lxvin" and "My Life" sound like Sunday morning club tracks as bass beats and scripture quotes shoot out at high volume, but these mainstream numbers are tempered by chilled and alternative songs, like the sweet and shy "Awkward, Pt. 2" or the dreamy highlight "Burn the Bridge." The intertwining threads of a "Coogi Sweater" influence the group to write one of their best tracks to date, and with guests like Andy Mineo plus Chris Durso (Next Generation Pastor at MISFiT NYC) this already varied album winds up an all-star worship party.
