Libera Me
‘Libera Me’ was Izzy’s debut album and on release, reached No.1 in the classical UK charts. Izzy began writing this album during her university years at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama whilst preparing her end of year music degree recital. The album begins and closes with the very popular Bailero and sandwiched in between, Izzy co wrote songs with producer Craig Leon capturing her youthful vulnerability and pure spirit. ‘Let me Sleep’ is a great example of Izzy’s writing skills and she dedicated this gentle song to her late Nana Lily who sadly passed away moments before recording the album at Abbey Road Studios. In fact, she attended and sang at her grandmother’s funeral a day before recording her debut album. This of course proved to be highly challenging for the young 24 year old. Yet when Izzy arrived at studio 2 the following day, Craig asked; “What song do you wish to begin recording?” and Izzy’s instant reply was; “Let me Sleep”. One recorded take was all that was needed to create a genuine, pure, fragile and crystal clear sound.
