Five good looking youths with wholesome images, catchy tunes to sing along with, mass appeal to teens and under 12's! Actually, they were one of the World's first manufactured pop groups. What is nice about these five is that they're music is still listenable today. Beautiful harmonies awash the first track on the album I'D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD TO SING - undoubtedly the groups biggest hit. The song reached Number One in nearly every country it was released. Not bad for something started from an old Coca Cola jingle. Their other Number One (UK) "YOU WON'T FIND ANOTHER FOOL LIKE ME"is here, with excellent vocals by "the blonde one of the group" - Lyn Paul. The fellers shine also on PINBALL WIZARD and GEORGY GIRL. Eve Graham's version of CIRCLES and the hit"LOOK WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO MY SONG MA"are welcomed on the collection. But it is Lyn Paul's voice which has the charisma - whether solo on "I GET A LITTLE SENTIMENTAL OVER YOU"or with Peter Doyle on"BEG STEAL OR BORROW". All in all, a very good compilation.
