Gotahavejor Love Remixes
"Gotahavejor Love" is a raw house track by Chicago’s Nathan Drew Larsen. It was originally released on vinyl in 2005 under his House of Black Dress pseudonym as the b-side to Fresh Meat’s first release “No One to Care For”. The original was a wild patchwork of memorable organ, recorded objects, noise and vinyl samples including the righteous and infectious vocal round, “Got to have your touch babe 'cause dreamin’ ain’t enough babe....” Bearweasel, the duo of Dean Mushin and Louisa Page, were requested for these 2009 remixes because they are brilliant at writing direct and fun 'tracky' house. Their output is body music in both the rhythmic and emotional sense. Dean and Lou, currently broadcasting from Staines, UK, get vibey with the vocal, while playfully reworking many of the original elements. The wicked Bearweasel Reprise indulges heavy dub techniques while their Lazy Dub focuses squarely on the dance floor. Wasted Chicago Youth's Remix and instrumental Dub stay closer to the original version than most remixes, at least these days. Mazi (Audio Soul Project) and Justin Long (.Dotbleep) used the original multi-tracks as the starting point for their reinventions, including most of the gritty drums, keys, and strange recordings - such as melodies played on disassembled metal cages. They add their characteristic urgency to the track; writing a new bass line, new percussion and effects. Their precise engineering and arrangements are in keeping with other current WCY releases. The Wasted Chicago Youth Remix first appeared on the album When Bad People Cook Good Food (Volume 1). The Dub is exclusive here.
