Tubular Vision
Headpocket is a British producer based in the Hinterlands of Norfolk. Drawing inspiration from iron seas and endless horizons he produces music driven by melody and low slung house beats. Tubular Vision is full of dreamy atmospheres, chill house moments, grandiose chords, soft arpeggios, gentle sweeps, reminding of Etienne de Crecy’s „Tempovision“ album for the elevating effects. Tracks like Swift, Nipper & Mo & Cottontops are shifting from balearic territory, dubby vibes via jazzy house pianos to some reduced Detroit house, like ebb and flow - always keeping the right balance between drama and chill-out. The very spacious Ghost Ship with his surprisingly gnarly bass pattern signals more dancefloor compatibility than the other tracks and opens up to some amazing remixes. „Solid District“ takes Tubular Vision sparse, hypnotic, deep waters while the Beatbroker Nylon Dub version of Swift takes the original to Space Disco where the acoustic guitar rather is an ornament to a synthetically spun tale around alpha centauri shining brightly from the night-lit sky Grand Master Bill Shakes Remix reduces Tubular Vision to the max, this is a bassline exchanging signals with a morphing noise until the synthlayer is zooming in and a lush swell creates a spaced-out, floating quality. Last but not least in 7mirrors Cottontops remix it’s the notes between the notes that make the vibe of spacious but minimalistic dub techno. It’s the loosest interpretation of what there used to be. It’s the finding of delight in the colours of echo trails… the track is gravitating towards the orchestral string break just to diffuse again into the void.
