After winning the hearts of electronic and rock afficionados all over the country, Saboteur Records is proud to present « TIGHT », a concept album with an array of sounds that typify what is ‘’ modern at the moment’’...everytime you pick it up ! With collaborations of some of the electronic and indie sphere’s most prominent producers, including the star of Canada’s electro/rock scene, Dj Champion, « TIGHT’s» tracks eclecticly take the listener from a cloud to the dance-floor, keeping the well-beloved sounds of Montreal well intact. Starting off fiercly are the electro-punk stylings of Saboteur Records’ newest signing, FEMME. Let’s say this is a teaser of what you can expect from their first full lenght album slated for release in the spring of next year. The album stays upbeat with Leo Cruz’s version of what an energetic car ride feels like ! Next is Madrid, the only band not from Montreal on the comp, Toronto rather. Nostalgic, late-afternoonish and sundrenched. Making a 180 turn we go to Mathias Mental with an eloquent pand catchy portray of boy meets girl, and boy finds girl to intense in our modern times! We now go to interlude #1 by Ghetto Pony, which will make you smile. The album ensues with the retro and electro-clubbish Gigi Transitor, with french lyrics and an Etienne Daho, Bashung suave feel, it has all the garnishings of a hit for the mature bar crawlers and then some . Ghetto Pony, fresh off a cross country us/canadian tour deliver us a Rolling Stones tinged indie sensation thats sure to make you wonder why you havent heard of them before. The sonic road-trip now lends way to newcomers The Brash with a dark, late-night sex fueled electro number featuring the vocals of longtime star dj, Maus. The tempo stays upbeat as Jordan Dare of Turbo records fame steps up to bat. Interlude 2 keeps the pace fast, leading to Le Matos with a song that, well…french touch anyone ? And now a new track from DJ CHAMPION, who shows once more you can’t underestimate Champion’s knowledge of beats and creativity. Whilst waiting on the forthcoming album from Champion’s inventive mind, this song should fulfill the hungry ears of his fans, and maybe even conquer the few who haven’t yet had the chance to be charmed by his original mix of electronics and guitars. Completing this multicolored collection of instant classics Panda’s(Martin of Les Jardiniers fame) take on ‘what is modern at the moment, or what expo 67 put to music sounds like.
