Get a Job: The Ember Records Story 1956-1962
Ember was founded in New York as a sister label to Herald by Al Silver. It would release one hundred and eleven singles in its eight years in business. And while many of its artists and their recordings are now obscure, two singles – ‘In The Still Of The Night’ by the Five Satins and ‘Get A Job’ by the Silhouettes – are acknowledged classics. Ember would fold in the face of the British Invasion in 1964, but we feature here the brightest and best offerings before the flame finally flickered.
