Exit
Alice's gradual move towards techno and club sounds becomes complete on "Exit". Mid-tempo trip-hop rhythms, shimmering keyboards, and free-floating melodies are the main features here, resulting in an album which is just as stylish and cool as Italian fashion but occasionally too trendy and watered-down. "Exit" is not as emotionally resonant as much of Alice's previous work, and the songwriting is not as consistently strong as on the first two songs. "Dimmi di si" has an extremely catchy guitar riff and can be considered the album's early highlight. "Open your eyes" is a duet with Skye of Morcheeba and gained some airplay in clubs. Other rewarding songs include the title track with its sharp percussion, the moody "Il vento soltanto", and "I am a taxi", though the lyrics of the latter one are fairly simple. All in all, it's a bit of a let-down after the excellent "Mezzogiorno sulle Alpi" and the experimental "Charade", but "Exit" still contains some intriguing music.
