Vigilante Man: Gems from the Topic Vaults 1954-1962

Topic Records was established in 1939 as an offshoot of the communist Workers' Music Association and after World War II they imported and reproduced some of the first American blues records to be commercially available in Britain. This makes it the oldest independent record label in the world and according to some, the most important in Britain. The recordings on this compilation introduced some of the best-known artists of the last fifty years to the British public; here is a rare opportunity to hear how the Topic catalogue started this journey.
