The Foggy Mountain Sound of Flatt & Scruggs
Lester Flatt joined with Earl Scruggs to bring bluegrass to international prominence. The combination of Flatt's guitar and Sruggs' extraordinary banjo playing made them stars of country music scoring hits throughout the 50s with continued success into the 60s, feeling the benefit of the folk boom. They were awarded a Grammy for Foggy Mountain Breakdown which famously featured as the background music to 1967s Bonnie And Clyde and, of course, inducted into the country music hall of fame in '79. Enjoy the best of one of the most successful partnerships in all of modern music and in particular the Banjo playing of Earl Scruggs who was described by The New York Times as 'the Paganini of the five string banjo'.
