Johnnie Ray was born in 1927 in Dallas, Oregon/USA. Although he needed a hearing aid since the age of fourteen, he became a musical superstar of the 1950s. His passionate vocal style motivated his female fans at concerts to scream-orgies. Between 1951 and 1959 he made with 21 titles the leap into the American pop charts. As a duet partner of Doris Day and Frankie Laine Johnnie Ray was successful. He also starred in three films before he died in 1990.
