He was probably the most popular Latin Bandleader of the Nineteen Fifties who was even able to place Number One Hits in the charts of Germany. Perez's mambos stood out among the competition, with their fiery brass riffs and strong saxophone counterpoints, and most of all, Pérez's trademark grunts.
