The American film studio known as the United Artists Corporation (UA) was founded in 1919 by actors Charlie Chaplin, DW Griffith, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. The studio founded by the UA record label in 1957 to distribute records of their movie soundtracks, though it would soon branch out into recording and releasing original music in a number of different genres, as well as licensing material from the UK.
