Afrosoul #2
Welcome aboard to this second journey to the sounds of contemporary Afro music. We're delighted to introduce this collection of recent and unreleased tracks by artists from Cameroon, Tanzania, United Kingdom, Mali, Burkina-Faso, France, Algeria, Kenya, Togo, Guadeloupe, Morocco and South Africa. The record mixes ancestral voices with those of the future while embracing a spectrum of genres including afrobeat, brass-band, blues, hip-hop, reggae, gnawa, dub and electro, as a backing soundtrack for afro singers and mc's. Bringing together artists from the African diaspora and the continent, with a special interest in cross-cultural collaborations, we're honored to present this second volume, gathering Tuki, Pidgin, Bambara, English, Arabic, Swahili, French and Creole langages. After dedicating our first release to inspiring black presidents, Fela Kuti and Thomas Sankara, we salute the legacy of Nelson Mandela with a line from Invictus, the famous William Earnest Henley poem : “I am the master of my fate / I am the captain of my soul.”
