Classics V3
Here comes the third of a five-part re-issue project from Shack Music. Having already offered up two great EPs of immediately classic house, the third EP deals in a little more soul and heartfelt heat. Kicking things off is Canadian producer Shawn Ward with his ‘Jazzy Dream’ – a track that first came to light on Underground Garage Hits back in 2007. It’s laced up with bright chords, wavy beats and hip swinging claps whilst intricate keyboard details float in the background. In 2006, Demarkus Lewis – who has produced for myriad labels including Moods & Grooves in the past – had an Untitled Love Affair. It was an EP of three soulful and vocal house tracks, with the one chosen for re-release Mr V Sole’s Channel Vocal. Above gently underlapping beats, well defined percussion and sunny day synths rides the spoken female voice with the resulting groove as feel good and infectious as you could imagine whilst forever staying classy. And finally it’s to ten year production veteran Matt Flores for the final track, one culled from his 2009 Waveform EP entitled ‘Went 2 The Future’. Melodic smoothness is what characterises the track: as well as wavy mid tempo beats and languid grooves, there are plenty of subtle synth patterns and future facing motifs. Another great tree tracker, then, that once again puts most contemporary music aiming for the same soulful sweet spot to shame.
