Acoustic at The Ryman (Live)
Last week had Band of Horses issuing an unplugged-style two-song 7-inch recorded at Nashvilles Ryman Auditorium as part of Record Store Days Black Friday event, but the group will present fans with a fuller live album in the new year. Tellingly titled Acoustic at the Ryman, the concert set arrives February 11 via Brown Records/Kobalt Label Services. A press release explains that the 10-song set acts as a "virtual greatest hits set of acoustic renditions of songs from across the Band of Horses catalogue," and that the performances were captured across two nights at the Ryman Auditorium last April. Band of Horses later mixed the set at South Carolinas Charleston Sound. "The game plan was to keep it wild and expressive like the show while capturing it with highest resolution available," bassist Bill Reynolds said in a statement of the collection, which was mixed and mastered in high-quality DSD. "The electricity in the Ryman was off the charts. If that makes it to the listener, then well consider this a success." The 10-song offering includes the live performance of "No Ones Gonna Love You" that appeared on the earlier 7-inch, but not the vinyl slabs B-side, a cover of Gram Parsons track "A Song for You." That said, pre-orders for the digital, CD and vinyl versions start this Friday (December 6) over on the groups website and come packaged with bonus tracks, so its possible the cover could pop up there. In the meantime, you can check out the tracklisting and a stream of the live LPs "Neighbors" down below. Fittingly, Band of Horses have also announced a short stretch of unplugged appearances to help support Acoustic at the Ryman. The dates get underway on February 11 in Los Angeles and include one Canadian stops in Vancouver and Toronto. Youll find the show info below as well.
