The Swing Band Project, Vol.4: Benny Goodman - The Bremen 1959 Concert and Brussels 1958 (2020 Remaster)

It is not necessary to describe the role of Benny Goodman in the history of the 20th Century history of music. It is sufficient to say that he was called the "King of Swing". For more then five decades his influence on the US Swing History cannot be underestimated. Benny Goodman's musical output is widely documented - but miracles happen every now and then: This new album contains the digital premiere of a concert recording long considered lost since it was available only in a small private edition initiated by the late jazz impressario and author Dietrich Schulz Kohn in the early Sixties. It was taped in October 1959 at the Bremen Concert Hall called "The Bell" and shows the Benny Goodman Tentette in geat form. The ensemble featured Red Norvo on vibraphone, John Markham , Red Wooten , Jim Wyble , Russ Freeman , Jerry Dodgion (alto sax), Flip Phillips (tenor sax) and Jack Sheldon . The ten titles of the Bremen Concert are backed by ten titles from Goodman's Concert in Brussels, the year before, from March 1958. Since the Brussels Concert was performed by the full Goodman Bigband one gets the delightful opputunity to listen to the "King of Swing" and his boys in different performing situations. So there's just one thing to say - to quote Goodman's Signal Tune: "Let's Dance!" and "Keep Swinging"!
