Mix the Vibe: Danny Krivit "Music Is My Sanctuary" (DJ Mix)
“Danny Krivit is "a teacher, a musicologist, and real special person," says Kevin Hedge, whose work as a partner in the brilliant production duo Blaze lends a certain weight to his words. Danny is presently best known for his weekly Sunday residency at New York City's interfaith, interracial, and international Body & Soul event. In the funky warehouse space of Tribeca’s Club Vinyl, a delirious, danceglorious community meets every Sunday to participate in the inspirational musical ministry of the legendary François K., Joaquin "Joe" Claussell (whose “Mix The Vibe” double CD was released on King Street/Nite Grooves in 1999), and Danny Krivit himself. As testimony to the powerful impact this trio has made on house music, the phrase “Body & Soul music” is now a term used worldwide to refer to a particularly soulful, vocal, percussive deep house sound. In 1999, one of Danny's highlights as a Body & Soul resident was DJing for a 15,000 strong crowd at a special Body & Soul event for “SummerStage” in Central Park, an event that became the first in what has become an annual Body & Soul celebration at SummerStage. Danny's reputation outside of New York City has grown immensely as well, as he plays gigs all over America as well as in Japan and Europe. He also has hosted two special international Body and Soul events in Italy for “Angels of Love” and Giorgio Armani. Danny continues to stay busy in the studio as well, with producer/editor/mixer credits on over 45 projects on labels ranging from Nuphonic and Strut to Wave and Giant Step.
