TRACKS 1. INTRO: The noisy sounds of the city mixed with African percussion on a primitive dub beat is the intro which paints the image of Urban Jungle and a taster of the albums character. 2. NEIGHBORHOOD ATTACK: A dubby & trippin’ glimpse on living in the jungle, which is always wild and tough. 3. DURU PEOPLE: Smokin’ all the dayz, funkin’ all the time. A happy time of an Urban Junkie. A funky track dedicated to all Duru people! 4. NOVA MONKEYS: How you gonna enjoy good music……? Strong funky break mixed with party mood characterized by the lead sax combined with the vintage sound of the hammond . How you gonna enjoy good music……? 5. BELEZZA MAKONIA: Summer, brazilian grooves and imposing scratches on a retro funk rhythm. An irresistible track that lifts your mood. 6. TALK TO DA PEOPLE: Latin influences, tribal and afro funk vibes arranged on dub techniques on the mix. This track, which offers the fastest grooves of the album, is clearly influenced by Fella Kuti. Members of Nasa Funk and and Xaxakes collaborate. 7. STREET ASSASSIN: Housy, funky beats combined with loops of 70’s old funk beats and rock guitar. This super track is already on the radio playlists and is dedicated to the signs of our times. You got to work hard to stay alive! 8. TYPE OF SCALP: Another strong dub tribal which combines latin, especially brazilian, influences with African percussion. This track is emphasized by great wind instruments, the flute and the use of berimbau (tradition instrument of capoeira) 9. LICENSE TO DREAM: This track unfolds the most jazzy character of Basement Freaks. It’s an easy town groove jam influenced by dj Cam driven by great sax playing by Michael Weisberger of New York based MILO Z. 10. BACK IN THE GAME: A great track of bossa rhythms emphasized by a fantastic jazzy loop which transports you to earlier times. 11. 114: Dirty, dark and subterranean, “114” is a fierce hymn about a street graffiti team from Thessaloniki known by the name 114. They gave color to the city walls in the period 1995 -1998. Spray samples, city sounds, dope aesthetics subterranean guitars mixed with ambulance sounds and a sample from “Reservoir Dogs” movie. This track reveals the fierce feeling of the might and endless chase which for some means that they are still alive. 12. URBAN JUNKIE: The routine of urban life results in our transformation into Urban Junkies. With this track they stamp on the concept of Urban Jungle which, although dark in its message, allows optimism to shine through the creation of music.
