Roy Kim, otherwise known as 'Chan' or 'Snacky Chan,' is a hip hop emcee originally hailing from New Jersey, currently doing his thing in Boston, Massachussetts. Chan has established himself over the years as an emcee with 'true to the art' skills, proving his abilities in underground hip hop venues across the country. Hip Hop afficianados first took notice of Chan when he dropped his first 12"(vinyl) offering, 'Politickin w/ Chan,' b/w 'Big in Japan,' in September of '01 on Detonator Records. 'Chairman Mao,' music critic/reviewer at XXL magazine went so far as to say that "...Chan is the rugged-est, most skilled Asian-American MC I've heard yet - actually, he's pretty dope on any scale..." Chan's songs have also featured on well known, and critically acclaimed compilation albums including the Detonator Records 'Volume 1' Compilation, as well as 'Home,' an album boasting a fine collection of the Beantown's hottest upcoming and veteran talents. As a result of Chan's hard work in '01, he was nominated 'Best New Rap/Hip-Hop Act,' in the 15th annual Boston Music Awards. Chan has blessed the stage with hip hop's finest including, Guru(Gangstarr), Jeru tha Damaja, Talib Kweli, Cormega, Afu-ra, Jedi Mind Tricks, Krumbsnatcha, Akrobatik, Mr.Lif, C-Rayz Walz, Black Moon, Boot Camp Clique, and many, many more. After succesfully completing a nationwide tour that spanned the entire east coast, midwest, and dirty south with Detonator Records, Snacks is currently back in the lab working on his debut solo project which will be be released in the Summer of '04.
