To whomever has been following the musing of Upon.You Records throughout the past 6 years the Amsterdam-based producer ONNO needs no introduction at all as he, as well as his tunes, has become a staple in the labels roster for a reason. So we're more than happy to see our old friend and fellow companion making a return for 2016 with his „Elevate EP“. Setting of into things with the title track „Elevate“ ONNO builds a pounding late night weapon on a foundation of marching, straight forward drums, highly seductive, futuristic vocal processings and dark'ish, spine-tingling stabs for those loving the harder, raw edged underground side of the TechHouse spectrum. On remix duties Mr. Wouter De Moor, another young and talented Amsterdam-based fellow, takes „Elevate“ even further when it comes to darkness levels and adds a quite subaquatic, technoid musical vision to the original tune before drifting off into string-loaden levels of deep 'troity melancholia, pleasing trueskool aficionados with complex synth progressions and constant bleep twisting. Finally „Freak Now“ gravitates to the raw end of the spectrum even more, sporting – alongside trademark vocal manipulations – a quite mechanical, robotic set of percussive elements and a simple, yet extremely functional three-tone signal of timeless quality, bringing on a minimalist setting that strips Techno down to its very core and keeps dancers buzzing now and forever.
