Politickin' Vol. 1
“The road I chose is a lonely one, Nowadays no one has the guts to go for their dreams am I the only one?” Hip-hop has not only witnessed the growth of music but also people with different ethnic backgrounds all unite as one. It is rarely stereotyped as a sole ‘black culture’ and to be hip-hop no longer lies on the color of your skin. If hip-hop, in the first place, has been a culture which embodies the freedom to be yourself, then why would it? Although hip-hop has grown universal in continents of South America, Europe & Asia, the birthplace of hip-hop still lacks the credibility of Asian-American descent. While most have feared to dare different, a man by the name of Chan - hailing from New Jersey, plans to change that notion in this coming year. Making a mark for himself since his debut release in 2001, Chan is literally amongst the top of his class. Allow me to clarify that this ‘class’ consist of one of the greats to ever pick up the mic, not just the Asian category. This man had to battle through doubts and denial along with everyday life obstacles to sacrifice his music, in order to open up doors for us in the mainstream market. Already gained & gaining respect from the underground circuit, this may be the year Korean-Americans will ever see light upon his run for success. For every kid growing up, there’s always someone to look up to and say “I can do that too.” In this instance, Chan has proven his potential to be the role model we need in our society. With his just-released “Lonely Road” music video [on the Official Bootlegs Pt. II mixtape], it’s only a matter of time his exposure takes his talent to another level. Currently running strong on the independent route, he splits his time as an artist & as a businessman for his label Dynasty Muzik. Not only is Dynasty Muzik expanding its market into a self-entitled clothing brand, but it’s in the works of bringing up new & upcoming talents across the nation. Among the big projects of the year is a group called D.R. which also features members of the Wu-Tang Clan. For more information & also to view the music video log on to www.chanhiphop.com.
