The First 30 Years
Chain first formed in 1968 and recorded it's first Album in 1969 called "CHAIN LIVE". The band disbanded to a trio after in 1970, when we recruited a new singer Matt Taylor and recorded our second Album called 'Toward The Blues" which went Gold in 1971 along with the single 'Black and Blue" which went to number one on the Australian singles charts. The band went through many different line-ups over the years, but kept it's core Rhythm Section of Phil Manning on Guitar, Barry ( big goose ) Sullivan on bass and Barry ( lil' goose ) Harvey on drums. The original "Toward the Blues " Chain line-up reformed in 1982 and went back on the road with great success and have remained on tour ever since. We lost our Bass Player ( big goose ) to ill health in 2003, which was a sad blow for Australian music, but on the side ( lil goose ) and ( big goose ) put another band together called "Brother Goose " which lasted up to the point of losing the big goose. We had to replace Barry and our new bass player who is still with the band "CHAIN" is Dirk Dubois and the original "Black and Blue" Chain are still touring at the moment and will keep touring forever. I don't ever intend stopping playing original Oz music. "CHAIN" for forty years is still learning.
