Promise
Bianca Merkley turned 16 and her dad gave her the option of buying a car or a new guitar for her birthday. Thankfully, she chose the latter- a decision she will never regret. Inspired by common life experiences such as love, sorrow, joy, jealousy and peace (yah, you all know the ones- those feelings that make us want to live or die) Bianca found that music was her outlet. -THE CONNECTION- Early in Bianca's song writing days, she was playing her guitar and singing on the streets of Park City. As she finished her last song, a man who had briefly stopped to listen said to her, "In this moment, I have forgotten my problems." Realizing then a greater purpose before her, Bianca felt driven to share her music with others in hope that maybe they too would find respite. This and other experiences have led her to this point of recording her debut album, Promise. Reviews: "On her freshman project "Promise", Bianca takes us on a musical journey from folk-rock to pop and Latin flavors (with even some jazz influences making an appearance). Bianca manages to weave all these styles together into a wonderful unified tapestry of sound. All the songs on "Promise" are written by Bianca, and that helps to make it even more special. With songs about life, love songs, songs of personal discovery and just some plain fun songs, Bianca covers lots of ground- all the while firmly establishing her sound. This is one of those artists you know you will need to keep your eye on!" - Giles Reaves, Producer/Engineer "Bianca has a beautiful voice and we thought accompaniment was perfect. Her signature sound was very soulful...With the Top 40 format, voices tend to be processed in a way that we feel would make Bianca's already pure voice substandard." - Melissa Chase, Music Director, Assistant Program Director WRVQ Bianca's style is comforting and inspiring. Bianca's song, Grateful, encourages my online Positive Psychology students to use gratitude as an intervention for post traumatic growth. - J.G. Farr, Director of the UOnline Positive Psychology Series and Online Instructor at the University of Utah
