Big Sharp Rock
Dana Gillian began song writing early as a teen. She began in her early days mixing beats and accompaniments on computer with garage band ( inspired by Weezer and Bjork) she would then take the mixes and use them with her electric guitar to back her self up at clubs. Her first song written was BIG SHARP ROCK the concept for this anniversary album. She was known as Dana and the Robots. Her first recordings( Vacation Holiday) were produced by Jeremiah Nave while she was obsessing over Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. Early on she added Aaron Clark to be the official Robots as he backed her with his drums beats and stylistic art rock. They Traveled the East Coast touring and recording making hand made cds and covers selling them for gas money. In the last ten years they have grown with different styles and adding such talents as Dylan Seals of “ Turn off the lights Recording Studio” electric bass man /computer beats/ omichord guru and Stephanie Jeter the autoharp queen from “ The Empty Bottle String Band” to complete Big Sharp Rock. Wolves and Tangerines was another journey that took us down the road to Famous London Recording Studio to the Kelly Brothers. There we used the cream of vintage instruments to make Wolves and Tangerines. The acoustic numbers by Dana Gillian on this Album are recorded at “Kill the Lights Studio” by Grammy Nominated Recording Engineer Dylan Seals. This album will be released with a music Video by The Prophetess Production Company, please check it out. http://prophetessproductions.com/ and youtube. Thank you for everyone that believed in our music in the last ten years, this Album is in honor of all the kids that bought our handmade cds and painted t shirts. This goes out to anyone who was made fun of for being different, for the broken hearted, for anyone that has a nerdy side and mostly to the ROBOTS.
