songs: heart of stone Move Along Mendo Love Song El Caracol 162 Haiku Fade Away Palabras These songs were written with the inspiration aromated from living life with passion. Heart of stone- I wrote this song while in Manila, CA. Watching the bay breathe and struggling with saying goodbye. Trying to let go. Move Along- I wrote this song in a fit of anger that I was feeling when I woke up from a dream. It represents the impulsive reaction to reality. Mendo Love Song- I wrote this song on some hot evenings in mendocino county. Armed with only a guitar and a fire I made it through an epic summer. Thanks to some help from some good ol' boys and my dog...Deuce. El Caracol (the snail)- On the coast in Southern Oaxaca you can find "Caracols" that when rubbed on the skin or hair will dye it purple. The color was once more valuable than gold and these concepts have helped me to put things into perspective. 162 Haiku- I started writing this song on a cold and rainy couple days alone at 162. I worked on it a little more and finished the song recently. The chorus came to me one morning. It the most personal song on the album. Fade Away- This song came from some negative emotions I was feeling and it was so therapuetic to me that I would wake up and play it everyday. It is the product of channelling these emotions into creative outlets. Palabras (words)- Well...I don't know what I would do without these. No matter what, words are the foundation for life and communication and no matter where you are they will sit inside this music. They can give you the power to do whatever you want in your life. baki
