"When Whitherward (comprised of Ashley Norton and Ed Williams) began to play, I was in complete shock. They are a folk band with some of the most mellow, beautiful music a duo can produce. A fusion between what sounds like Simon & Garfunkel with a little Jennifer Nettles, it was one of the first folk bands I genuinely found myself enjoying and one of the few to actually capture the attention of the crowd. " -Beth McAllister, The 99 Cent Bin In short, our main goal with Whitherward is to have fun; everything we do revolves around this central point. I'm sure everyone says that, but this is indeed the crux of our mission; when we formed the duo, we were both disillusioned with how things were going in our respective careers. We resolved at that moment to have fun with whatever we come up with, regardless of the outcome, and if the direction we're going in is not fun, we change the direction. In everything that we do, we do with the aim of having fun and exploring new angles and ideas; though the subjects of some of our music may be serious and, dare I say, maudlin, we still enjoy what we do and we relish the chance to share our music and our ideas with anyone who will listen.
