Brogan Galceran, better known by his stage name Big Dumb Kid is a 23 year old producer, rapper and singer from Sydney. Setting himself apart from traditional Aussie Hip Hop trends by fusing the bright synthesizers and rich melodies of electronic music with his individual care free flow; BDK proposes an honest perspective of his surroundings and himself, writing conscious rap songs for inquisitive listeners. “A refreshing addition to the Australian music scene” – James O’Doherty, the AU Review. Surfacing in early 2011; Big Dumb Kid’s EP “Vanilla”, a collection of biographical tales set against a backdrop of colourful synthesisers and DIY, bedroom-style production gained interest with tracks ‘About My Dreams’ and ‘Dumb Luck’ being picked up for rotation on FBi and airplay on Triple J and Unearthed. In April 2012, Big Dumb Kid launched his debut album “Chocolate”, taking over 2 levels of MUM at The World Bar with his Dead City Zens collective - Old Men of Moss Mountain, Deadbeat & Hazy and Subsketch, a group of like-minded artists looking to broaden the sound of Australian hip hop. Lead tracks ‘Lost in the Chaos’, ‘Somebody Else’ and ‘Ballad of BDK’ saw him highlighted in the “20 Local Producers You Need To Hear” (inthemix.com.au), earning him respect and recognition from the media and his peers.
