Made at Home Volume 2
In 1999, MSG existed only as a question: What would it take to put Madison, Wisconsin on the music industry map? The answer was that Madison needed a more cohesive songwriter/performing artist community. On that premise, MSG was founded to provide educational, performance and networking opportunities for local artists. By providing a broad range of services and support, meeting the needs of both established and aspiring performers, MSG set out to improve the quality and quantity of original live music generated by Madison artists. By all accounts we have been tremendously successful. We offer an impressive array of programs each month, including Song Critiques and Songwriters in the Round, as well as a Songwriter’s Showcase that provides performance opportunities for emerging artists. We also sponsor the Midwest Song Contest, the largest contest of its kind in the region, and the monthly distribution of the B-Side, an electronic newsletter that includes reviews of member CDs and advice columns from industry experts. We have also added a Holiday CD Sale encouraging people to give the gift of local music. And, coming in 2006, we'll sponsor the first MadSong Expo, a two-day conference featuring songwriters, publishers and music industry heavyweights from across the country. After the amazing success of our first compilation, MSG is proud to present this second volume of Made at Home. We feel it is another wonderful collection of songs and performances by our members. While the first disc documented a growing movement of home recording by our members, Volume 2 features outstanding tracks from some of the nicest studios in the area. Many of the artists on the first disc have gone on to record deals and publishing contracts. This disc features several artists you might be familiar with, while showcasing a few groups we are certain you'll be hearing a lot more from in the future. I hope you enjoy this look at some of the Midwest's finest talent. Keep on Writing, Eric Hester President, MSG For more information on the artists featured in this compilation please visit madisonsongwriters.com
