China Plates
Jess Chizuk is a singer/songwriter with indie-folk roots. Her soulful and genuine music has captivated people in her hometown of Buffalo NY and beyond, with her songwriting prowess being recognized and awarded nationwide. Inspired by lyricists of the past and present, Jess' songs are driven by acoustic guitar and memorable melodies, brought to life by her own graceful, airy vocals. "China Plates" is Jess' first release since her debut EP "Shine a Light On" in 2013. The single rose to the spotlight when it was entered in the Yellen Foundation Songwriting Contest of 2014, sponsored by the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. When it took first place, "China Plates" was produced and recorded in GCR studios of Buffalo. The final track features members of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame accompanying Jess' vulnerable vocal and guitar performance. Since this accomplishment, this folk ballad has continued to gain attention and accolades, most notably landing Jess a spot in the semi-finals of the Songwriter's Serenade 2015 contest in Morovia TX. The single is rooted in the storytelling lyrics, speaking to those who don't value "keeping up with the Jonses", stating that there must be more to life than owning the nicest china plates.
