Kite High

“Kite High” is a duo album which combines traditional Irish songs with Jenny & Martin Schaub’s own songwriting. Jenny’s crystal clear voice together with Martin’s skills as a multi instrumentalist (he plays all instruments on the CD) renders the album a unique and varied sound. Jenny & Martin are the singing/songwriting force behind the Swedish band West of Eden who with their mixture of Celtic music and melodic Scandinavian pop so far have released three critically praised albums. With the band they have toured Sweden, Ireland, Holland and Belgium as well as played support act to Beagley & Cooney, Deanta and Blackmoore’s Night. Several of their West of Eden recordings have also found their way on to international Celtic compilations alongside such artists as Mary Black, Sinèad o’Connor, Clannad and Capercaillie. This time Jenny & Martin digs deeper in the Celtic soil, much due to the fact that a few summer ago they studied Irish music traditions in Limerick for masters such as Andy Irvine, Mícheál ó Súilleabháin and Karan Casey. “Kite High” is strongly influenced by this experience, and several of the songs Jenny & Martin learnt or wrote that summer is featured on the album.
