The Shadow of Time (Bong Thoi Gian)
A DIFFERENT KIND OF BEAUTY…. In the modern music of Vietnam, no phase reflects more honestly, the spirit of the past, as the prewar musical songs did. Due to that influence, is became an everlasting trend. Even in this modern era, Vietnamesese prewar music still maintains it’s original seduction, sharing and touching our minds endlessly. From that sharing ability, the prewar musical songs were extended more and more beyond their tradional limits by Jazz/Blues influences of Tran Manh Tuan. Different from anyone else, Tran Manh Tuan’s examination and exploration of the past propelled him into the present time… I realize why he has named this Album , THE SHADOW OF TIME... A daring and special bridge of the past into the contemporary. The destiny of the Saxophone is one of Blues and Jazz. It is also the destiny of Tran Manh Tuan. That is why it is impossible for Tran Manh Tuan to escape from his idea of globalizing Blues and Jazz, as well as Vietnamese prewar musical songs.
