Mix The Vibe: Louie Vega - For the Love Of King Street, Part 1 (DJ Mix)

The reason why so many people listen to House Music today is mainly due to the influences of one of the biggest names in the genre, namely, Louie Vega. Having won his second Grammy Award in 2006 for Best Remix, this world-renowned DJ/Producer/Remixer and has been the creative genius behind such immense collaborative efforts as Nuyorican Soul (with Kenny “Dope’ Gonzalez) and most recently with Elements of Life (with Kevin Hedge & Blaze). His past projects with his partner Kenny Dope have yielded THE HIGHEST DJ profile in Soulful / Latin and House Music. The great thing about this mixed cd is its live recordings and live sound effects added by Kenny Dope. It also contains quite a few productions that both he and Louie remixed and produced as MAW. Barbara Tucker, THE underground house music chanteuse added ad-libs to make her #1 hit “Most Precious Love” that much more special. The most upcoming underground DJ/Producer Mr. V is MCing throughout. This was recorded at Café Mambo in Ibiza. Records like “Bar A Thym”, “Flight”, “What it Feels Like” on Disc 1 reflect tunes played at his weekly residency with Kevin Hedge at Cielo in NYC (voted Best Club), called “Roots”, where a lot of djs from around the world all stop by to hear them play. This definitely reflects the current NY house scene. On disc 2 full of the songs that he plays at the Underground Network party at the old Sound Factory Bar between 1992 & 1996. Classic records like “Souffles H”, “Brighter Days”, and “Show Me” are represented here as well as neo-classics “We Are Lonely” and “Find A Way”. Louis also has a weekly show on XM Satellite Radio where he plays many of these classics and new productions. On these 2 discs, Louis alternates between eras of House Music evolution giving this amazing collection a timeless feel.
