Summer

BEKKERS PIANO GUITAR DUO Dutch guitarist Robert Bekkers and (overseas) Chinese pianist Anne Ku began their piano guitar duo in 2001. Using modern instruments, the pair is re-interpreting music originally written for piano and guitar duos as well as transcribing better- known works for piano and guitar as orchestra. This once favourite pastime of bringing together performers, composers and enthusiastic audiences has left a largely untapped legacy of published music specifically written for the piano and guitar. The polyphonic and virtuosic possibilities of the two instruments have attracted many composers to write for the duo, including that of contemporary Dutch composers in a forthcoming CD. The duo keeps an active blog documenting the behind-the-scenes stories of their rehearsals and performances, as well as collaborations and foreign adventures. Summer is their first CD.
