Nat Osborn & The Free Radicals
Nat Osborn + The Free Radicals are an eclectic new band formed from a group of diverse musicians and individuals at Skidmore College. Nat Osborn hand-picked musicians with specialties in Rock, Jazz, Soul, Folk, and Classical music in order to achieve the genre-blending new sound he envisioned. Their first record, a six song self-titled EP, showcases their remarkable ability to seamlessly blend a multitude of styles and find fresh sounds yet still create memorable songs that you can’t get your head. The EP starts with an epic anti-war rock-song in “War Mongers”; “Idle Hands” is a moodier song that features lush orchestrations and tight harmonies; “Claire” is without a doubt the single, an incredibly catchy song about a lost love; “Yours Alone” sees the group at their most original, blending Rock, Reggae, and Klezmer around a catchy, haunting song; “Latex and Neon” captures the wail of a human drenched in remorseful sin and showcases the band at their most shockingly powerful; the EP ends with a short, stripped down acoustic song in “Glass Box”. The EP is an adventure, and one that is too exciting to take only once.
