The Devil's Own
James Horner's score to the 1992 Harrison Ford thriller Patriot Games employed traditional Celtic arrangements and instruments to spotlight the film's IRA antagonists — five years later, Horner, Ford, and the IRA meet again for The Devil's Own, and to the surprise of absolutely no one the composer simply rehashes the same approach he employed the first time around. With its emphasis on pan pipes, tin whistles, and jig-like rhythms, this is by no means a conventional action score, but Horner's music is so stereotypically Irish that you can't help but wonder if he wore a leprechaun costume while conducting the orchestra. The Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan also contributes an original song, "God Be with You."
