Mozart: Early Symphonies
This set gives you symphonies 1 through 20, plus a bunch of others. The numbering of Mozart's 60-odd symphonic works is hideously confused, since everything after No. 41 is actually early music that was either undiscovered or for some reason unnumbered by Köchel when the original Mozart catalogue was first compiled. Be that as it may, Sir Neville Marriner's performances are clean, clear, and perky. This isn't great music, but it's full of charm, and these versions have given pleasure for many years. --David Hurwitz
