Live At Third Man Records
This past April 18, country legend Willie Nelson celebrated his 80th birthday with a concert at Jack Whites Third Man Records facility. Now, that visit is being documented with the latest package from Third Mans rarities-oriented subscription series the Vault. The package includes a live album, a poster, and a unique 6-inch record featuring Nelson and White. The Live at Third Man Records album is credited to Willie Nelson & Friends. It features a host of high-profile guests including Neil Young, Norah Jones, Leon Russell, Sheryl Crow, Ashley Monroe and, of course, Jack White. The three-sided release comes on so called "smokey grey" and "bio-diesel green" vinyl, with the blank D-side featuring an etched graphic of the famed palomino horse Trigger. See the tracklist below. The concert was originally broadcast on CMT Crossroads. As for the 6-inch record — which is the labels first-ever record of that size — it was laid down in Third Mans recently unveiled vinyl recording booth. Its pressed on transparent yellow vinyl and housed in a die-cut sleeve, and features White and Nelson duetting together on "Red Headed Stranger." It was presumably easy to fit the song onto the small 6-inch record, since the booth only allows for recordings of 111 seconds or less. The B-side is an etching. The poster, meanwhile, is a double-sided foldout. One side shows Willie Nelson in the recording booth, while the other is a metallic logo of the Vault. The package also comes with three Vault-themed bonus items: a sticker, a lapel pin and paper model thats designed to sit on top of a spinning record.
