If you ever have to pick one CD to take with you to a desert island, Beloved would be an excellent choice. This album features some of the choicest cuts from David's past albums, plus a few new surprises thrown in. It's hard to imagine someone not familiar with David's music. Song from his albums are played as atmosphere-adjusters everywhere, from department stores to airports, and rightly so. But don't let that fool you into thing that David writes "elevator music." His music creates relaxed, graceful, almost classical ambiance anywhere it is heard. David's light, softly jazzy keyboard work is just the thing to take the stress out of a busy day. Beloved will give the listener who is not familiar with his music a great sampling of his style. As the name implies, Beloved has a romantic feel. The tunes in the collection tend to ward the introspective an subdued, yet the passion - a David Lanz' trademark - is palpable.
