Behind the Trees

Stockholm, Swedengroup Melpo Mene comes from the same scene as Jose Gonzalez, an associate who inhabits the same sonic territory as Melpo Mene’s gentle, reflective songs. Melpo Mene’s songs, however, are a bit more rock oriented. New full-length Behind The Trees opens with “Elephant Parade” sounds like a Swedish version of Modest Mouse’s “Float On” or even Grizzly Bear. “Leave Me”, on the other hand, is more interested in acoustic melodies, layered percussion & synthesized washes of sound, a truly lush and gorgeous song. “Make The Girl Dance” is every bit as summery as its title implies, with female vocals toward its end!
