Annie Laurie

The Radio Dept began with Johan Duncanson & Martin Larsson working in a small space, surrounded by music and records. This was an experimental time for the band. Trying out new sounds, soft sounds, loud songs. Delving into the back catalogues of the bands/records that influenced & inspired them to create their own band. The Annie Laurie EP displays this musical quest that the Radio Dept went on during the bands early incarnation. Annie Laurie begins with the acoustic Scottish folk title track, but finishes with a soft & subtle instrumental which features samples of birds chirping, early morning sounds and soft talking. Along the way the record deviates from its slow pace and goes on a drastic tangent to the world of fast paced electronic computer sounds via Rugars mix of Bad Reputation. Bad Reputation has since become a firm favourite for fans & has spawned numerous fan videos and remixes, which is encouraged.
